The Popping Stone in 1917

WW1 convalescents at the Popping Stone

Convalescent WW1 soldiers at the Popping Stone.

This photo comes from a set of nine, two of which are dated June 1917, although there is snow on the ground in this one. Note the slippers! The men must have been brought down from the hotel in wheelchairs or by cart, probably via Green Grove. The man at the top left is a medical orderly with a different cap badge, he's the only one smiling - he isn't going to be sent back to France.
